Strange

My wife and I took our little boy to the county fair tonight and I had the weirdest experience. Usually as a father, I'm bucking the kids up and getting them to do the things normal childhood fear has convinced them they can't do. We waited in line for this new fangled Ferris wheel and he sort of let on that he was scared. I assured him it would be fine. Then we took off and I was scared shitless and he was having the time of his life. I realized pretty quick that my sickness was from this overwhelming fear that he could fall out at any minute. Just slither out of the damn thing. Maybe it was the design that had me so freaked out. Maybe it’s because he’s my last. Strange. I’m never afraid of anything, and I was terrified for those few helpless minutes on that contraption. Grabbing a fistful of his little jacket made the physical part of it go away, but man! Uncharted territory for me. The whole night was a great time, but that one deal was just freakish. I'd never been so afraid. Impending doom. Maybe it's become a habit.
